Most guests arrive in Pokhara and think they've arrived in Gandaki. They haven't, they're standing at the entrance. Behind Pokhara lies the full Annapurna circuit, the Kali Gandaki gorge (the deepest on earth), the sacred temple of Muktinath at 3,800 meters, and, beyond all of that, Upper Mustang, the walled kingdom that required a special permit until 1992 and still limits the number of visitors who can enter each year.
